The SIMATIC S5-135U and S5-155U programmable controllers are multiprocessor controllers intended for automation tasks in the medium and upper performance levels.

When high demands are placed on fault-tolerance, two S5-155U central controllers and the corresponding CPUs may be combined into a highly-available S5-155H controller.

The S5-90U, 95U and 100U programmable controllers are compact mini PLC's used for the economical solution of simple automation tasks. The 100U was the first mini PLC to offer a modular backplane system.
